Overnight skin treats

Using a night cream is equally as important to your skin as a day cream. Night creams are thicker and often more intensive than day creams because overnight, whilst you are resting, is the easiest time for the advanced nutrients to be slowly absorbed.

At night cell renewal is more active as hormonal changes occur that result with more blood coming to the skins surface. This leads to temperature in the skin increasing and so being able to absorb more nutrients. For this reason night creams often contain more intensive ingredients which day creams lack. So night creams are a necessity to heal your skin from the day’s damage caused by air pollution and UV rays.

In some cases night time application is vital, for example if the product contains retinol. Retinol can be a very unstable ingredient and becomes less active if exposed to sunlight. Dr Ralph Spindler, Technical Director of AMCOL®, the manufacturer of nurture’s retinol products has told nurture many times of the advantages of retinol and its benefits to the skins epidermal cells. “Retinol has become the clear choice for retail anti-ageing treatments. While many extracts promise to provide a magic solution to the problem of ageing skin, one active has been demonstrated, through numerous clinical studies, to actually reverse the effects of time. That active is retinol.” AMCOL® have developed the ground breaking MICROSPONGE® delivery system technology. This encapsulates retinol to help protect and maintain potency over time; it then releases the product slowly when applied to the skin.
